I’m not even going to try and get to a point.

I never liked sleeping in my room when I was younger. I think it might have been the polka-dotted-pastel-colored-heart bedspread or the wood paneling on the wall that made me dislike my room. I also hid naked Barbie dolls under that bed spread. I don’t know why I did that, but it was uncomfortable so I would sleep at the foot of my sister’s bed and listen to her read. If that didn’t put me to sleep, I would lay in the dark and just pray. It was always about the safety of my family because I would watch Unsolved Mysteries and see reenactments of people getting kidnapped, murdered, and getting abducted by aliens. I wanted my family to be separate from that; I wanted them to be safe. I should be saying want, because I still feel this way, but there are times when I feel very distant from it all and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing.

I had a friend in the fourth grade who gave me a note on the last day of school. She wrote that I had a perfect life and that she wished she was me, and I just wanted to throw that note away since I found it to be distressing.

I came across this movie on television one night, wondering why the hell they were showing a Christmas movie in March. I wasn’t even giving it my complete attention and I still ended up sobbing at the end. I think my inattention might have even added more to how this film hit me. If you’ve never heard of this movie and are curious, just watch it.
